Meet Award Winning Editor Rose Shababy
Rose’s mom says she began her writing career at six when she created several comics including The Variety Family (a superhero family with different abilities) as well as Modern Day Snoopy (a couch-potato TV junkie). She’s been working to improve her craft ever since, finding a talent for editing along the way. She loves being part of the creative process, and helping a fellow author find their best voice is tremendously satisfying.
Rose published her first novel in
2014, and has continued writing and editing since that time. She has helped
establish a forum for writers in her local community, dedicated to bringing
fiction writers together for collaboration and social interaction. The group began
publishing a short story anthology in 2017, committed to giving its members a
taste of the publishing world, and Rose has been at the head of the Selection
and Editing committee since that time. Her time with the group has been invaluable
in her writing journey.
In 2019, Rose joined Filles Vertes
Publishing as an intern and was thrilled to accept the invitation to be a
Junior Editor in 2020.
Some of Rose’s favorite books
include The Stand by Stephen King, Watership Down by Richard Adams, and Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's
Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. She is also a huge Star Trek fan. She
will use her free time wisely watching episodes of ST:TNG or Syfy movies like
Sharknado.
If Rose were a cartoon animal, she’d
prefer to be a wise old owl or a sleek and sexy jaguar, but in reality she’d
probably be a myopic mole with coke-bottle glasses.
